Banquet Awards
Sunday, October 4th, the annual awards banquet was held in Coldwater. Brittany won Rookie Of The Year award for the senior division, as well placed 7th in the championship. Brittany also received a school scholarship donation from Krown Rust Control. Congratulations!
Througout the Fall and Winter
Again this year, Brittany will be working with the police from November 30 to December 3 at the RCMP Racing Against Drugs Program in Woodstock.
Season Ending
Well the season has now come to an end as of last Wednesday night. After struggling over the last 4 racings with what looked like a lack of engine power, we where able to find a bad bearing in the clutch prior to the last race.
In the heat race, they held a 5 lap “shoot out” where Brittany started 7th, at the checkered flag she was working on making the pass for the win, she ended up coming in second. The feature race was very aggressive, and she and her car again ran very strong, finishing the feature in 3rd place right on the bumper of the second place car. We are now waiting to hear the final points standings, but it appears that she will either be 7th or 8th overall and it also looks as though she will be the highest placing rookie in the senior division. (there was 6 rookies in the senior division). If the end of this season is any indication, we should be in for a good season next year.
Brittany also attended Cowapalozzo in Woodstock with her car earlier this month, and will also be at the Great Canadian Race Weekend at Delaware Speedway on the September long weekend with her car on display.
Summer
The first part of May was spent at the track doing “Rookie” practice. Brittany quickly managed to get her car up to speed, and we spent a lot of time messing with the car set up to get it to handle the way she wanted it.
While mother nature has not been good to us as far as being able to race, we have managed to get two full races in, but have had two cancelled due to rain.
The first race started out good with a qualifying position of 12th. When the green flag dropped she began to move forwards, but a 5th lap spin put her down a lap and she was unable to recover from that. She ended up coming in 13th out of 14 cars.
The second race went much better for her, we had made some more changes to the car and she qualified 2nd. The rules have the rookies starting at the back of the field for the first three races no matter where they qualify. Brittany started at the back for the feature race and raced her way up to a high position of 5th with only a few laps to go. A late race caution came out which made the field revert to the lap before. She restarted in 7th position with two laps to go and finished in 7th.
New pictures from the track and the events she has attended are posted.
May 7 - 10
Brittany attended the provincial conference for Ontario Students Against Impaired Driving held in Oakville at Sheridian College, where she attended workshops and seminars. She had the car on display in the main entrance for that time.
May 23
Brittany was invited to spend the day, with her car at Harvan Engineering when they where celebrating their 25th anniversary. The event was very well attended by suppliers, customers, and employees. Brittany was able to meet and talk with most of the people in attendance. This was a fantastic celebration, congratulation on your mile stone.
June 1
Brittany had dinner with the Kintore Optimist Club where she later made a presentation on her racing as well as on impaired driving and street racing.
